About the Program
Barrow County Habitat for Humanity partners with AmeriCorps National Service and VISTAs to help build capacity and grow our impact on the community. To learn more about the Habitat AmeriCorps program visit http://www.habitat.org/americorps/about .
AmeriCorps members serve in the following areas at their local Habitat for Humanity:
- Community engagement
- Construction crew leadership
- Volunteer leadership
- Resource development
- New program development
Requirements to serve with Habitat
- Be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
- At least 18 or older.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Note: Each site may have specific requirements related to their positions that are noted on the position descriptions.

2016-2017 AmeriCorps Member:
From September 2016 – September 2017, Rebecca McIver will serve as the Resource Development VISTA at Barrow County Habitat for Humanity. She is Barrow Habitat’s very first VISTA and second AmeriCorps member. In her position she helps to increase donor support for our affiliate and expand our capacity to serve Barrow County and its housing needs.
2015-2016 AmeriCorps Member:
From September 2015-July 2016, Melonie Clark served as the Volunteer Services Coordinator at Barrow County Habitat for Humanity. She was Barrow Habitat’s very first AmeriCorps and she had an incredible impact on the Barrow County Community. In her position she helped to recruit and manage volunteers on the work-site as well as in the office. Thanks to her service Barrow Habitat was able to utilize more volunteers and grow the volunteer services program.
